Alisa has a Bachelor of Arts Music, a Postgraduate Diploma of Education and a Masters of Music (conducting). As an academic, Alisa has twice received the Griffith University award for academic excellence and graduated her Masters with Distinction. Alisa has held the position of lecturer of orchestral conducting at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and has also been employed by Education Queensland for the past 24 years where she has held the position of Director of Instrumental Music. She is currently Head of Curriculum for Ensembles for the Queensland North Coast Region.
As a conductor she has travel throughout Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom and the USA where she has had the privilege of working with such esteemed ensembles such as the Singapore Military Band, Elder Conservatorium Wind Symphony, Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and the University of Illinois Wind Orchestra. She has been the conductor in residence at the State Honours Ensemble Program on a number of occasions, MOST in 2007 and is currently the Musical Director of the A grade ensemble Queensland Wind and Brass. Alisa has been active as a member of the Australian Band and Orchestra’s Directors Association the Australian Conducting Academy, presenting numerous conducting and instrumental music teaching professional development workshops throughout Australia.
